Awesome things about turning 29

So in three days time I’ll be kissing goodbye to the second to last year of my twenties, and you know what… I’m actually excited about it. I definitely feel that all my years leading up to this have prepared me for my penultimate year of my twenties. But don’t get me wrong, the pressures of thinking I would be married with kids, living in a million dollar home, travelled the world twice over, running a successful business and all the rest are still hanging over my head, especially when I read my journal dated back to 2005 where I’ve described my desired 29 year old self which is so far off where I am today. However, the beauty of turning 29 is kissing youthful ideologies away and really understanding what brings happiness, true happiness. And ultimately for me it’s family, love and health. So without any further ado, here are the things that I feel are awesome about turning 29….

My top tips on finding the perfect wedding dress

As you all know, I'm planning my wedding which is due take place in Feb next year. And one of the most petrifying things on my list was finding the perfect wedding dress. I am happy to say that I found my dress in a gorgeous shop in south west London and will detail my experience in later post.

So my worry was that as I am super indecisive and heard a bunch of horror stories from other brides that fell out of love with their dress, took over a year to find the perfect dress or both! But after finding my dress I am confident that it is the right dress for me and my big day.

I wanted to include some of my top tips for finding the perfect dress and staying in love with it.

Why I'm happy to drop my last name and am not looking back

Since being engaged I’ve been asked numerous times if I would be adopting my husband-to-be’s last name. To me it was no brainer, ever since I comprehended the concept of marriage (age four or five) I always knew my days of being Miss Candida Lathbridge were numbered, and I’ve always accepted that. But after reading this radical article on Cosmo entitled ‘In the Age of the Internet, Changing Your NameWhen You Marry Is a Terrible IdeaI was compelled to write about my reasons for my decision.

Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin Collection Review

A few weeks ago I was given a set of Jo Malone bath and body toiletries as a leaving gift from work. I was so excited as I’ve bought Jo Malone products for family and friends in the past but have never splurged on their goodies for myself.

Afternoon Tea at Sketch London, Mayfair

A few weeks ago I visited Sketch in London’s Mayfair for a quick spot of afternoon tea and cocktails. I’d heard and read loads of good things about Sketch before visiting so I had high expectations of the service, décor and the food.

A Hint of The 2016 Chelsea Flower Show at The Rose Lounge

Last week a few of my girlfriends and I took a trip to the gorgeous Rose Lounge for afternoon tea which is located right in the heart of London.

The pastry team at The Rose Lounge took some inspiration from the Royal Horticultural Society’s upcoming Chelsea Flower Show (24-28 May) to devise some truly spectacular confections which we were excited to sample.

Finding the dress of a lifetime – no pressure!

My wedding will be in February 2017 and I was told that it could take up to six months for a wedding dress to be made, if you’re ordering from a store that is.

I can’t lie, the dress shop was probably the part of the wedding planning which worried me the most. Looking for a dress that will be the focus of a 300 people wedding (yes 300), will adored by my hubby and not to mention, will be all over friends and families social media channels. On top of it all, I had no idea what type of dress I wanted! I felt the pressure, pretty early on.

My proposal story

My hubby (he who chooses not to be named) and I had been together nearly five years at the time of the proposal (Nov 30th 2015) and marriage is something we had both spoken about for a while. But I had no idea when a proposal was going to come my way, but boy did it come in the best way! Grab a cup of tea and let me tell you how this went down…
